Materials, components and systems
As part of classification, DNV also certifies all materials, components and systems relevant to safe operation and quality of ships. Our design assessment, type approvals and production assessments ensure that systems and components are fit for their purpose, and fulfil the requirements of the DNV Rules or specific recognised standards.
Technical support
DNV’s activities on Certification of Materials and Components are operated by a staff of some 150 dedicated specialists on the related technical engineering disciplines. This group of people is located at the head office in Oslo, and organised in sections representing each particular discipline.
