DNV provides international certification services for ISM, ISPS and MLC as a Recognized Organization and ISO 9001/14001 and OHSAS18001 as an Accredited Certification Body.

As one of the major Classification Societies, DNV developed its own scheme for certification of Safety Management Systems for shipping companies and ships, even before the ISM Code was formally established. DNV pioneered ISPS and is also the leading class society on MLC. Through these certification activities, DNV has built a vast experience with certification of ISM, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSHAS 18001.

As a major international certification body, DNV has issued over 35,000 certificates for management systems, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates, worldwide.
